I keep seeing that in tags on here and I’m really confused by it. Girls seem to get seriously pissed off when people do this……slut shaming thing. If I can say just one thing; Slut is not a good word. It’s a derogatory term used into society. If a girl is acting like a slut, I’m going to call her…
I’m sorry, I know everyone has a right to their own opinion and I am never one to judge someone, but this doesn’t fly. Words are whatever we want to make them. Words are completely neutral because they are just that. WORDS ARE WORDS. it’s what we make them out to be is what gives them such strength. The problem in our society is that we need to stop giving words so much strength. and how about for starters, we stop calling it a derogatory term.
Who decides what is dressing appropriately, eh? So what if a girl wants to wear a low cut blouse or a shorter skirt one day. Maybe the girl that you’re looking at and thinking how she’s a slut because she is showing cleavage, is just really excited because for one day, she thinks she looks great and she wants to show that. Or maybe someone is really proud of their body. They are not ashamed of who they are or how they look. Does that makes them a slut? So being confident and proud of themselves makes someone a slut, am I getting this right?
There is nothing wrong with sleeping with as many people as you want. Having sex is fun! There’s no need to suppress it. Sexual suppression is a problem. Now, I understand if it’s an addiction, then that’s certainly a problem. But there is nothing wrong with sleeping with people. The problem with casual sex is the lack of communication and the lack of protection. We need to stop shaming these women and educating EVERYONE one safety and protection. and the more power to the women that you are talking about. Because after all, the term slut is only directed toward woman. It fits right in with the rest of our incredibly sexist society.
What you are saying is that WOMEN should monitor what they wear and what they do in order to be accepted into society. If they do not fit in, if they don’t follow these rules, automatically they are a slut. and that the only way to correct this is to not do what we want to do with our own bodies and lives and follow what everyone else wants.
No. It doesn’t work that way. So call me a slut for enjoying sex and wanting to sleep with people. So call me a slut for being proud of my body and wearing clothes because they may not settle with your ideas. So call me a slut because I am not afraid and that I find nothing wrong with showing off my body because I am proud of it. Go ahead. It’s just a word, I’ll listen.
Reblogging for the added commentary, I agree completely.
Also, the idea of “young children” somehow being scarred for life for seeing a girl in the park wearing a micro skirt and a bra is just ridiculous. Naked/half-naked bodies are. not. dangeorus.

Utterly stupid use of this meme. “Self-respect” is not based upon how many people you have sex with, your sex life is nobody’s business but your own.
